People who live in developing countries like Nigeria are especially likely to suffer from HIV/AIDS. Young Nigerian women are around five times more likely to contract HIV than young Nigerian men. Factors such as women’s lack of access to healthcare and education, prostitution, gender-based violence, child trafficking and marriage all lead to impoverished women put at high risk for HIV.
