NEPWHAN ATTENDS PLHIV STIGMA INDEX RESEARCH PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT AND DATA INTERPRETATION WORKSHOP IN BANGKOK, THAILAND.

Our National Coordinator, Mr. Abdulkadir Ibrahim together with the M&E Manager, Ms. Nkechi Anthonia Obot represented us at the People Living with HIV (PLHIV) Stigma Index Research Protocol Development and Data Interpretation training session that took place in Bangkok, Thailand, between 25 and 27 September 2024.

The International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW) and the Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV (APN+) co-hosted the training session on developing research protocol and data interpretation framework for PLHIV Stigma Index 2.0.

The training session strengthened the knowledge of the participants on PLHIV Stigma Index data analysis and interpretation for evidence-based advocacy, guided by country-specific priority indicators and contexts.

In addition, the participants further gained in-depth understanding of PLHIV Stigma Index implementation phases, standardized methodology, population size sampling, research protocol, and how to develop data analysis framework, wearing gender lens in the analysis design, to dissect and address the root causes of intersectional stigma and discrimination of PLHIV.

The three-day workshop had 32 participants drawn from national PLHIV network groups in 11 countries including Belarus, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, Jamaica, Malawi, Nigeria, Vietnam, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, and South Africa.

This event came timely as NEPWHAN would apply knowledge gained in rolling out a PLVIH Stigma Index program planned for the last quarter of 2024 through the first quarter of 2025, under the current Global Fund N-THRIP GC7 implementation.
