Niger for Nigerlites: Breaking Barriers & Embracing Hope – HIV/AIDS Awareness Event (27/09/2024).

Nigerlites came together in an unforgettable event organized by The Big Drum Africa, OGA Landlord Foundation, and NEPWHAN, to tackle the challenges of HIV/AIDS head-on. The theme, “Breaking Barriers & Embracing Hope,” united the community in a powerful campaign focused on awareness, prevention, and support for those affected.

Program Schedule

Pre-Event (2:00 pm – 4:00 pm)

  1. Red Carpet Arrivals
  2. Exhibition Booths offering HIV Testing, Counseling, and Information
  3. Interactive Sessions with fun games, quizzes, and awareness materials

Main Event (4:00 pm – 10:00 pm)

Segment 1: Opening & Awareness (4:00 pm – 5:00 pm)
The event kicked off with a warm welcome by our MC, followed by a series of powerful presentations that addressed key issues:

  • Causes of HIV endemic and controlling its spread
  • The myth of HIV/AIDS being a death sentence
  • The impact of HIV on the workforce
  • The crucial role of community awareness and knowing your HIV status

Segment 2: Performances – The Song Contest (5:00 pm – 6:30 pm)
Contestants wowed the crowd with their talent in a fierce competition, as we took short breaks with comedy to keep the energy alive. The evening reached a high as the winner delivered a breathtaking final performance.

Segment 3: Personal Testimonies & Call to Action (6:30 pm – 7:00 pm)
In a moving session, HIV-positive individuals shared their stories of resilience, highlighting the importance of comprehensive support and care. The call to action urged attendees to get tested and take steps toward prevention.

Segment 4: Headliner Performances (7:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
The stage was lit with incredible performances from our headliners, lifting spirits as the evening continued.

Segment 5: The Groove (8:00 pm – 10:00 pm)
Attendees celebrated with music and dance, united in hope and solidarity.

Segment 6: Post-Event
The night continued with networking and opportunities for HIV testing and counseling, as well as the distribution of awareness materials.
